What is Play to Learn SEND Home Tutoring?

Play to Learn SEND Home Tutoring is a support service working with parents and carers at home for children up to the age of 5.

We listen to your priorities: We will listen to your priorities as a family and together work towards a shared goal for your child’s development.
Weekly commitment: This is a weekly commitment for a minimum of five weeks.
Flexible arrangement: The times/dates each week could be flexible and we hope to be able to work around your day.

What will the sessions look like?

Session 1

Getting to Know You and Your Family

This will be an informal conversation with parent/carer and an observation of the child. Together we will decide what the shared goal is. During this first visit, both the tutor and the family will decide whether Play to Learn SEND Home Tutoring is the right support. Agreement for session 2-6 when appropriate.
Sessions 2-6

Play to Learn SEND Tutoring
A session can last for up to an hour and can consist of;
- An observation of the child to support parents/carers understanding of how their child is playing and interacting
- Direct play with the child
- Demonstrating play-based approaches to progress towards the shared goal
- Supporting parent/carers to play and interact with their child
- Talking to parents/carers about other strategies, toys and activities that your child may benefit from
Weekly Report

Supporting Your Child's Progress

You will receive a weekly report detailing our interactions with your child, the impact of this and how you can have a go at home. The report may also signpost you to further information and top tips.
